Synopsis:                                Sam can't leave without shampoo. As she need to use the shampoo to watch her hair every day. One day Uno steal her shampoo. She hair start to grow mud which make Sam leave miserable.

I have learn how to use 3 act structure to develop my story. Throughout the writing the story I met a lot of difficulty to writing the story.

 

Especially the motive I always out of the focus in writing the story. Therefore I when thought consultation to get some guidance to learn to follow the 3 act structure.

 

 

3 ACT STRUCTURE (= story map on ONE page)

Key Character

Sam ( Tortoise)

Motive – Key Character MUST DO/WANT/NEED something or else…

Sam must get back her shampoo or else her hair will start growing mud and turn dirty brown.

Situation

Uno the nasty crab stole the shampoo from Sam. In order for retuning back the shampoo to Sam. Sam have to win Uno in the running race.

Other important information

Sam have to get her shampoo back as soon as possible as her hair is growing mud soon.

Turning Point1

She manage save a little shampoo for herself.

 

ACT2 - CONFRONTATION

Conflict / Obstacles - Key character struggles to achieve motive

But the shampoo is finishing soon. Sam still have to get her shampoo back.

Turning Point2

Uno agree to return back the shampoo. But San had to win the running race in order to get back the shampoo.

ACT3 - RESOLUTION

Climax

When the race start. Uno start running sideways. He just realize he is having a problem controlling his direction.   

Up the Stakes

Unknowingly he end up in the forest.  Unable to get back to the race track.

 

Outcome

Sam did not notices that Uno is missing. What she know is she is have problem in running as she has a heavy shells.

Resolution – key character’s motive achieved?

With the problem of having heavy shells. Sam did not gave up the race. She took 2 days to completed the race and she thought she had lost the race. But actually she had won the race as Uno is trap in the forest.

 

Key Message - and the moral of the story is…

Do not judge a book by its cover.

 

 

 

 

 

STORYLINE: (450-500 words) – double spaced, 12 points

Sam always feel sad of any things she does. Uno the nasty crab who always like to disturb Sam. Uno enjoy people suffered. Such a sadist crab, no one likes him.

 

Sam have a problem with her hair. She need to wash her hair every 2 hours. If not her hair will start growing mud and her hair will start turning brown and dirty. Hence she need to carry her shampoo along whenever she go. Uno knows about her problem. So he decided to stole the shampoo from her and watch her being suffer without shampoo.

 

During a late night, Uno break in to Sam house and stole the Shampoo when she was asleep. When Sam wake up, she found out her shampoo is missing. she start panicking and look around her house to find her shampoo. But she fails to find it. Sam was sad and worried. Uno came, start laughing at her.

 

At this time, Sam saw Uno was holding her missing shampoo. She please Uno to return back her shampoo. But was rejected by him. Sam ask Uno how can she get back her shampoo. Uno trying to make things difficult for her. He knows Sam has a heavy shells that make her having difficulty to run. So he suggested to have a running race with her. In order of returning the shampoo. Sam has to win Uno during the race. Which Sam think it is impossible for her to win the race.

 

Sam was lucky that she found another shampoo. But this shampoo could not last her long. She still have to fight back her shampoo. She spend days and night preparing the race. But not matter how she practice she could not run fast to win Uno. She got worried for many days and hope miracles will happen to her. With the perseverance she had, she did not gave up practicing running.

 

It is the racing day, Sam and Uno starting the race soon. Sam was worried that she will loss the race. Her leg start trembling. Uno was highly confidents that she will win the race. He laugh and joking around with the Sam weakness of what she is having now. As the race started, Sam is struggling with her heavy shells. Uno was happily running. But Uno did not realize he is running out of the track. He run and run and now start realize that he can't control his direction. It was too late that he found out he was lost in the forest.

 

Sam did not gave up the race. She took 2 days to complete the race. She thought she had lost the race. But actually she had won. As Uno are still trap in the forest.

 

Finally she got back her shampoo. Sam hug it tightly as she afraid that she will loss it again.

SCRIPT

ACT1

 

SCENE 1 – Is was at night Sam is sleeping. Uno took this chance to break in her house to steal her shampoo. When Sam wake up, the shampoo is missing. Sam was panicking and worrying. She trying very hard to find her shampoo. She went around her house looking for her shampoo.

 

 

Sam

(Snore)

 

Action Description – Uno slowly break into Sam house. As he afraid that he will wake Sam up from sleeping. Sam wake up found out her shampoo is missing. She start worrying

 

 

Sam

(Panicky)

 

Oh No!!

Where is my shampoo?

I can't find my shampoo

 

 

Sam

( Crying)

 

What should I do now?

 

Uno

( Nasty Laugh)

 

Haha!

Looking for shampoo huh?

 

 

Sam

 

Can you return my shampoo?

 

Uno

Nope unless you win me the running race

 

Sam

 

Huh?

But..err..I Can't Run ..

 

 

 

Uno

 

Then you shall not get back your shampoo

(Laughing and Walk off)

 

Sam

( crying)

 

Oh no..what should I do now

 

 

 

 

 

ACT1

 

SCENE2 – Sam house

 

Her hair start growing mud and turn brown and dirty. At this time she found her another shampoo. But only a little left.

 

Sam

 

(Sad)

What should I start off with?

 

Sam

 

(Sad)

Oh no my hair is turning brown

 

I need the shampoo.

 

ahh..I remember there is still little left of

shampoo in the bath room.

 

But.. this shampoo does not last me long.

 

I Still have to get my shampoo back.

 

hmm.. I shall wash my hair before I go practice my run.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

ACT2

SCENE3– Running Track

Action Description – Sam is trying to practice her run. Sam just had her hair wash and now she decided to go for a run.

 

 

Sam

(running)

 

I am so tired.

 

My shell is too heavy

How should I run to win Uno in the race?

 

Sam

 

(Sad)

I wish there is miracles happening to me.

 

 

Sam

 

But all the problem we have.

 

I will never give up practicing run.

 

Action Description –  Sam feel tired when she run.

 

 

 

ACT3  – At the running track

 

Action Description – It a Racing day. Sam leg start trembling . Uno laughing at her weakness point.

 

 

 

 

Sam

(trembling)

 

I am so nervous.

 

 

Uno

(nasty laugh) 

 

Haha!

 

I Shall watch you loss this race and

let you suffer for the rest of life without shampoo

Sam

(Sad)

 

Why do you want to do this to me?

 

Uno

(nasty laugh)

 

I just enjoy seeing you suffer.

 

Sam

( Crying )

 

No..!

 

Please don't do this to me..

 

Uno

( nasty laugh)

 

 

 

Action Description – As the race start. Sam start running. But no matter how she run, she still unable to run fast. Uno is highly being confidents on himself. As he start running, he didn't realize he is lost his control of the direction. He happily run . When he realize he found out he is not out of the running track. But in the forest.

 

 

 

Sam

(running)

 

Oh no I am so slow.

 

I am tired now.

 

But I cannot give up!

 

I must win this race to get back my shampoo!

 

Uno

(Running happily)

 

haha!

 

This time round I am sure that I will win the race.

 

 

 

Action Description – As Uno start running. He end up in the forest and he feeling very Stress.

 

Uno

( Stop running )

 

Err.. Why the track now look so weird now?

 

Oh no!!

 

Where am I?

 

Uno

( Confuses )

 

Why am I in the forest instead of the running track?

 

Uno

 

I can't lost this race!!

 

I must win!!

 

But I just couldn't get out this forest

 

( Feeling stress )

 

Uno

 

What should I do now!

 

No!

 

This is impossible that I will end up in the forest.

 

Ahh!!!!

 

 

Action Description –  Sam is in the running track and worrying he might lost this race.

 

Sam

(Crying)

 

I had spend two days of finishing the race.

 

I think I had lost the race.

 

 

 

Sam

( Feeling worried )

 

where is Uno?

 

I bet that he had already completed the race long ago..

 

Sam

( Shock )

 

What?

 

I win the race?

 

Uno is still lost in the forest?

 

I Can't believe I win the race..

 

 

Sam

Yea.. I win the race!

 

I finally got back my shampoo!

 

Sam

( hugging)

 

I must hug the shampoo tightly.

 

I can't afford to lost this shampoo again...

 

 

CLASS EXERCISE: DIALOGUE

There is a boy girl friend relationship between this two teenager. Both parents does not agree with their relationship as they have some misunderstand issue last time.

 executive summary

They had run out of shampoo and they want to get the free shampoo that somebody had left it on the floor. Therefore Alex and the couple decided to have a running race between themselves to win the shampoo.

Along the race Sam having problem to  with his shell. As his shell is very heavy. And Alex is a fast runner. He won the championship for the crab running race.  During the race they met a lot of obstacles.

Sam have a very heavy shell that  slow him down during the race.

The Couple never give up the race. They spend a day to complete the race. They thought they had lost the race and actually they had won. Because UNO  did not realise that he ran out of the track during the race. This cause a disqualify to UNO.
